The search for a competent breeder
The search for a competent breeder was not easy. We were looking for someone who not only had expertise in the breed but also an understanding of the diversity of genetics. After months of searching, we finally found our head breeder and biologist, who not only advised us but also made use of our skills as web developers.

It quickly became clear that in our breeding we had to pay attention to the genetics, the breed standard, and the character of the animals. Everything had to be precise, from the parent cats to the offspring. Particularly important was the inheritance of good genes, especially regarding size, the anatomy of a serval, as well as markings and coat color.
The origins of Savannah Genetics
After a period of waiting and much patience, we finally founded Savannah Genetics. Our goal was to organize the breeding in a way that allowed us to make optimal use of genetics. We learned that a breeding female should have no more than three litters. We kept a female if she looked more typical than her parents and resembled the serval more closely. The mother was spayed to relieve her, and we imported a new Savannah stud male to bring in fresh blood.
