Savannah Genetics
Savannah Genetics Hobby Breeding – Savannah Cat Breeding Germany
Our journey began around 40 years ago, when the very first Savannah Cat was born in the United States through the unexpected crossing of a Serval (a wildcat) and a domestic cat. This unique mix is known as hybrid cats, and Savannahs in the early generations are Serval hybrids.
At their best, they grow large and carry the striking appearance of a wildcat: a small triangular head, a long back with a slender yet athletic body, long hind legs, and beautiful spots on silky fur.
Since 2008, at Savannah Genetics we have been passionately and devotedly breeding Savannah Cats.
Our cattery is located in Germany, in the picturesque landscapes of Baden-Württemberg and Rheinland Pfalz. Here, we provide our Cats with a loving home while placing great importance on their health and socialization.
As experienced Savannah Cat breeders, we understand the importance of knowledgeable guidance when it comes to keeping such fascinating animals as Servals and Savannahs. That is why we are happy to assist you with expert advice—whether you have questions about the breed, nutrition, size, character, care, health, coat care, living conditions, costs, or prices of different generations—all the way to helping you choose the perfect Savannah Cat for your home.
Our Savannah Kittens are not only delightful to look at, but also intelligent and playful. We take great care to raise well-socialized, healthy kittens that are ready to enrich your home and become beloved members of your family.

What makes a Savannah Cat from Savannah Genetics in Germany special?
The Savannah Cat is completely different from a house cat – a unique look, silky coat, extraordinary nature, these animals are a fascinating crossbreed, large in size and like a dog in a cat’s body. Going for walks with or without a leash, Savannahs love water, they love to jump and climb, and are extremely affectionate.
Endlessly attached, incredibly curious, always where you are. Their coat is unique, and they are a house cat unlike any other. Even their diet is extraordinary, and it’s fun to feed them a raw food diet (BARF).

Especially Striking Character and Physical Traits of the Savannah Cat
For us, the purity and genetics of our animals according to their generations are of the highest importance, as they define this special breed. That’s why the breed standard is very important. They should reflect the appearance, size, traits, and character of a Serval.
As hobby breeders, we constantly strive to improve our breeding to come as close as possible to the characteristics of a Serval. We always look for typical Savannah cats of various generations that contribute not only to physical traits but also bring the unique character of a Serval or an F1 Savannah (1st generation).
Our Savannah cats, whether male or female, are extremely affectionate and start purring immediately when near you. Much like a small wildcat, they love to jump, climb, and hunt. During cuddling sessions, they often show the adorable kneading behavior. Their fur is very soft to the touch, and initially, it has a camouflage pattern which smooths out after a few weeks; full coat development is complete by around 1.5 years. Some of our Savannahs are also highly communicative. When they want something, they try to express their wishes charmingly through chattering and “discussions,” even if their requests were previously denied.
The Savannah cat is an extraordinary breed among all domestic cats. It resembles a wildcat with large ears, a small, triangular head. Even in F4–F6 generations, the ears remain large. Male cats in these generations typically weigh between 7–9 kg, and females between 5–7 kg. When encountering such a breed, it is immediately obvious that they descend from a Serval. Behaviorally, there is little difference between males and females.

The promotion of our Savannah cat breeding is our top priority and should be the goal of every breeder. That’s why having optimal Savannah stud cats in various color variants, such as Brown Black and Silver Black, is important. Ideally, they also pass on size and carry the appearance of a Serval.
