Savannah Katze Breeding
Our Cattery

Welcome to our cattery “Savannah Genetics,” Savannah Cat Breeding

In our menu section “Our Cattery – Savannah Cat Breeding,” we want to give you an insight into our breeding work and introduce you to our approach. We believe it is important that you have a clear picture of us and our cattery in advance. Immediately after the birth of the second Savannah kitten, we begin our careful procedure. The first kitten is weighed and then placed in a special brooder with a red light. This ensures that the new Savannah mother does not accidentally step on her kitten. From that moment, we start regular weight checks, which are conducted twice daily.

Biologically Appropriate Raw Feeding

Savannah Cat Breeding

From the fourth week of life, after already exploring their surroundings on wobbly legs for a week, we encourage the Savannah kittens to start eating solid food. This includes pureed wet food, ground beef, and day-old chicks.

Therefore, the kittens should be kept in a confined area, the playpen, until the 6th week of life. After that, the kittens begin to leave the playpen. This is the point when they need to learn to stay clean in larger spaces until they are ready to go to their new homes. To support this, a litter box is placed in the middle of the room. From the 5th week of life, the kittens gradually start playing actively and become more stable on their feet. The Savannah kittens now show growing curiosity and explore their environment, experiencing new things. This also includes visits from our younger siblings aged 4 to 12 years, helping the kittens get accustomed to children so they won’t be afraid of them later.

Additionally, the kittens are introduced to the television and loud music. To reduce any fear the kittens might have of the vacuum cleaner, we operate it daily in the kitten room and the playpen. Often, this method results in the Savannah kittens wanting to chase and play with the vacuum cleaner. From the 7th week of life, the kittens begin to develop distinct personality traits and discover their preferences. Most of them prefer to sleep under a blanket with us. They form a bond with us and follow us from room to room.
